Thayer show Take Five ends

Friday we met in Braintree and took down the show. There were visitors up to the last minute.

We got a great blog review http://donnaingemanson.wordpress.com/2013/10/31/take-five-thayer-academy-gallery/
Headed by my piece, Be Nice.

The shows go up, the shows come down. My next one is a solo at the Bromfield Gallery in April 2014.

Here's a preview of that one. It will be called Ellen Wineberg : Worldview. This piece, which continues to evolve, is called Primavera. I have been working on it since last March. It began like this...

They change a lot. I just go along for the ride. Pounds of art supplies... when they are done the surface is like a rind.

Really good press from Chris Bergeron

A great article in Metro West about my show at Danforth Art.

It's still there till November 3.  He called this piece a fusion of "Salvador Dali and Show Dog magazine."

Thayer Academy show, cont'd

Cathleen Daley's large colorful piece, cheap spectacle and its side kick in white, silent partner, are made with plastic grocery bags, acrylic paint and gallons of Elmer's glue. They are the weightless children of the giant macho target paintings and the domestic braided rugs of the past century.

Here's a shot of the show.

Open House and Family Day at Danforth Art

Many people strolled through the museum. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids. In my room, the Swartz Gallery, they had to name all the everyday objects in the paintings ... twigs, oil cans, shoes,  rulers, knobs and handles.
 Stephanie spots something ...
and a little girl takes this task very seriously.
